Evolving.
Okay, this is JU specific. These are the people on JU that I'm thankful for--and they're off the top of my head, for the most part, which means I'm likely to leave people out. Don't be offfended--I have a terrible memory. Also I think I have all these genders straight, and if I don't, I'm terribly, horribly, no-good, very badly embarrassed about it.

*ahem*

I'm thankful for...

BlueDev, 'cause he's a medical student and a helluva funny guy, even if he is a bit of a points cow. I like that he is going into a profession where there's the potential for great benefit and great loss, and I admire him for being able to take that challenge.

Chiprj, 'cause he's hella funny and has cute dogs (and, from what I've recently read, a saucy sofa).

Historyishere, 'cause he knows what Homestarrunner is and 'cause he's a fellow writer. I'm aspiring, but he's there, quality-wise.

Muggaz, 'cause he's a hottie in those aviator glasses and a tux. And he was one of the first to befriend me when I arrived at JU.

Ravenblack, because she's insightful and intelligent and a tiny bit quirky and hates Mondays even more than I do.

Shadesofgrey, 'cause we have stuff in common. She's also a bit of an idealist, but a very practical one, and I admire that.

Citahellion, because he's a grammar god and I prostrate myself at his feet hoping to learn everything he knows about the written word. (And I still haven't figured out everything about the subjunctive.)

Sugar High Elf, because she (she?) is a Harry Potter genius.

Texas Wahine, because, well, just because.

Danny Bassette, because he's funny. Even though his heart is broken.

KarmaGirl, because I was recently reading some of my older blogs and came across some insightful comments from her.

Dan Kaschel, because he's the most intelligent person I've run into. He restored my faith in students after a quarter of teaching that made me want to tear my hair out.

Little Whip, because she has a heart for animals, as do I.

Gideon MacLeish, because he and I were searching for jobs at the same time. Only he had the guts to move, and we didn't.

Imajinit, because he was one of the first people to encourage me when I arrived at JU. And because he continues to entertain and enlighten.

WiseFawn (even though she's gone) because I admired her never-ending idealism. Mine often slips into cynicism.

Dharma, because she's got a lot of common sense, and that's invaluable. Also because she doesn't let people take her down. And I envy that ability.

Feel free to add some of your own; if not, just go to someone's blog and tell them you appreciate them. That way they get the points, not me.

Yeah, someone thinks I'm funny And you forgot Draginol, for building this playground we call JU.

Thank you too, A, for your insight and wit in your comments in my blog and in your own articles as well.

Thanks A--I liked that list and think mine would be awfully similar...

Thanks! I'm thankful that you're here, too! I love reading your posts! Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm thankful for greywar and pseudosoldier. It was because of them that I started blogging here. I'm also thankful for Oleteach. I love it when I see her name in the recent posts column.

Of course I think you're funny, Danny. And a bit troubled, but I read one of your last blogs and you seem to be thinking about working things out.

Raven--I just commented on your Monday articles. When I finally go to work in two weeks (!) I'll be commiserating more. Only Mondays do have one highlight, that being Monday Night Football here in the U.S.

Thanks, shades--nice to have people on a similar wavelength.

And Mr. Chiprj, I hope you and your girls sleep better tonight. Thanks for mentioning other people, too.

I shall be looking forward to that.

Why do they schedule Football on Monday Nights over there? Is there a reason?

Anglo - thanks for the nice comment... you're a sweetheart.    I'll keep reading your stuff if you keep reading mine.

on Nov 23, 2004

I only just caught sight of this...thank you for including me in your list!

Not letting people take me down....that's an ability that comes from many years studying at the School Of Hard Knocks.

It's a tradition started by one of our television networks (abc). I think it's been ongoing for something like 30 years. There's college ball on Saturday, most of the NFL games are Sunday at 10 or 1 (PST), then there's one Sunday night game (shown on ESPN) and one Monday night game (shown on ABC), and then on Thanksgiving there's always another game. It's just to spread the games out a bit more. Highlight of the Mondays, though. (You really need to watch Office Space. Do you have DivX?)

I'll keep reading your stuff if you keep reading mine.

It's a deal.

I've studied there before, I think...just not their online program.

I don't think anybody has.

Thanks, LW. Consider it a virtual olive branch, maybe. I still think you and I may have some irreconcilable differences, but it was nice to recognize some common ground. I'm not very good at seeing that sort of thing, sometimes. Okay, most of the time. And since I usually avoid your articles, I didn't exactly have my eyes open. But, as Andrew Lincoln's character, Mark, in 'Love Actually' says, "It's sort of a self-preservation thing."

(I hope that doesn't sound offensive--it isn't meant to be.)

I just did a search on yahoo movies, after looking through the credits, now I'm not sure whether I've ever watched this on cable or not... it does look familiar. (I wouldn't have appreciated it a few years ago I think. )

There is a cult TV show called The Office which is quite hilarious too. Have you seen that one? It's british, I think.

angloesque, i think this is a really good idea. it's nice to read a blog composed of entirely positive accolades, i wish there were more of them. one insightful coming your way

I wonder if this is going to start a T-day tradition on JU? Thanks for the accolades A.... as in Aliasfan

Raven, if you've seen the watered-down cable version, no good. The swearing, I'm abashed to say, is one of the best parts. (Just don't watch it with the volume turned up.) But you'll find someone who feels for your Mondays and relations to bosses, coworkers, etc. Hell, I identified with it when I was a student. Its applications are far-reaching. Anyway, I have it on DivX if you want....

Mig, see, there's another person I forgot to put on the list. I like your enthusiasm and very much off-the-wall articles. The polka-dot titled one being a case-in-point.

Historyisheresy, ah, yes, you caught me--I'm a huge Alias fan. V. bad of me to let football, Desperate Housewives, and Alias control even a little of my life (not to mention ER and The Apprentice). And my writing time has suffered (not, obviously, my blogging time). But post-football, it should pick up again.

LW, glad you knew what I meant.

Happy Thanksgiving, or for those unAmericans, happy random Thursday.
